The first stop would be Njeguši – the village in the Cetinje – Old Royal Capital of Montenegro, found on the slopes of Mountain Lovćen, inside the Lovćen park that is national. The village is best referred to as the birthplace associated with the Petrović dynasty, which ruled Montenegro from 1696 to 1918. It is also significant for its well-preserved traditional folk architecture. Njeguški sir and Njeguški pršut (local forms of cheese and prosciutto respectively), made solely in the area around Njeguši, are genuine contributions to Montenegrin food and you will have a way to taste these products. The town is situated in the Njeguši field and is also a center associated with the tribe of the name that is the same.

The historic capital of Montenegro, known as “city-museum” due to its authentic architecture and a lot of historic buildings, relics, monasteries, churches, and museums after Njeguši next stop would be Cetinje. It is very much the heart of Montenegro. In between two picturesque small towns Rijeka Crnojevica (found beside the river of Crnojević – near the coast of Skadar Lake) and Virpazar is situated on Skadar Lake, the pond that is largest in the Balkan Peninsula. The Skadar Lake system is a well-known hotspot of freshwater biodiversity, is also certainly one of the bird reserves being largest in Europe, having 270 bird types, rich in fish using the 34 indigenous fish species, 7 are endemic, etc. Many Montenegrins regard this certain area as their country’s heart and soul.
